The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor will be given to Adam Sandler

Actor and comedian Adam Sandler is slated to be presented with the 24th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts said today that the comedian will receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The award will be presented on March 19 during a gala performance at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Manhattan.

For more than three decades, Adam Sandler has entertained audiences with his films and music.

A five-time nominee for an Emmy, Sandler began his career with a four-episode stint on The Cosby Show, at the time television's top show, before joining the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1990.

The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor is given to the individuals who have had an impact on American society in ways similar to the distinguished 19th-century novelist and essayist Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain.
